Frequently Asked Questions

How do I setup and manage my streams?

To access your streams, log into New Day and place your cursor on “My Account” at the far right of the home page menu. Click on the Streams drop down for a list of your streaming titles. On the upper right of the streaming page, click on Licensee Tools to manage your licenses and to see user analytics. Tools include specific link details and our tool for setting up IP authentication.

How does New Day streaming work?

New Day streaming requires no special equipment or software, other than a high-speed internet connection.

For institutions: When you purchase a three, five or seven year institutional stream, or even a 14-day In-Class license, New Day provides a link based on your IP address, or IP address range. After your purchase, simply add this data to your Account Profile in the space provided. New Day streams will easily integrate with class management software, such as Blackboard.

For distance learning: New Day streaming works with your proxy server to provide streams for off-campus viewers.

For individuals: If you're a student accessing a school stream, campus credentials are all that’s required.   If you have a personal three-day streaming license (not for classroom or group use), you'll use login credentials to access your streams.

What are the benefits on New Day’s streaming infrastructure?

With New Day’s completely reliable and secure system, your institution can have all the advantages of an in-house streaming system, without the overhead. Even if your organization has its own system, using New Day’s site to access New Day Films frees up capacity for your servers to carry content that isn’t available through remote streaming.

What are your streaming Formats?

The files used for the New Day streaming platform are H.264 MPEG-4 files that are processed to enable adaptive streaming. The files should not have any issues playing back on any devices. Additionally,  Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer will access and playback the New Day.

What if I am already a New Day Digital streaming user?

Licenses purchased through your New Day Digital account will continue to be operational, but to access your account on the new integrated site, please reset your password. To reset your password, go to https://www.newday.com/user/password, enter your email address and click on “Email New Password.” You will receive an email with a password reset link.

Once you have logged in and changed your password, you can access your streams by choosing Streams from the "My Account" menu at the right of the menu bar.

Select Licensee Tools to view all your licensed films and to see your purchase and expiration dates. Here you will also find your new streaming links for institutional use.  We want to make this upgrade as smooth as possible for you, so please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have. If you have any general questions regarding our platform, please contact Karen Knox (orders@newday.com). For technical support, please contact Andrea Debellis (support@cminyla.com).

Can't log in?

If you’re having trouble logging into the application, first check that you’re typing in your username and password correctly. Verify that your caps lock key is not on. If you continue to have problems, try resetting your password - use the Forgot Password button and a new password will be emailed to you.

If you do not receive your password in a few minutes and have reset it more than once contact the system administrator using the Support Page available on this web site. There may have been trouble sending you an email for some reason.

The video doesn't play or takes a long time to buffer.

The videos are intended to be streamed using a high-speed internet connection. Using a slow connection will cause the video to not play properly. If the videos frequently buffer, then it means that you are not maintaining a fast enough connection to our servers to watch our videos. Please contact your network administrator.

How does IP address and proxy server authentication work?

You can configure IP addresses of your institution’s network that this website will use to recognize requests for video access. When configured properly, users with an IP address that falls within the list of authorized IP addresses will be granted access to view videos without further authentication. This is ideal for anyone who wishes to access videos from an on-campus location where you can predict what will be the source IP addresses of your users. Authentication is seamless, and the user will never be prompted to login.

In order for users that reside off-campus to have access to videos, your institution must use a proxy server. This is necessary because it is not possible to reliably predict the IP address of someone using a private internet service provider, as IP addresses are assigned dynamically. Using a proxy server gives the appearance to our servers that the off-campus request is coming from a known on-campus IP address

What licenses are available?

For maximum flexibility, many New Day films offer several licensing options:

Multi-year institutional streams – individually priced. Each New Day filmmaker sets their own price for the three-year, five-year, and seven-year streams of their films, based on the price of their DVD and our own costs for bringing the product to you with appropriate bandwidth, security and dependable system back-up.

A 14-day In-Class license - $60 Includes classroom rights and institutional viewing option. Just add your institution’s IP address or IP address range to your profile, following your purchase. Term of license begins at purchase.

3-Day Individual license - $4.99 For individual viewing privileges only, not classroom use or public performance.

Why doesn't New Day offer perpetual streaming licenses?

We're occasionally asked about perpetual licensing, but we honestly don't believe it's in the best interests of our filmmakers OR our customers at this time. The marketplace for media is changing almost daily, as are the technologies that bring media to us. In five years, a perpetual license that once looked very attractive might be seen as a bad investment. We see five year licenses as a reasonable compromise that allows our customers to get a solid value for their dollar, while preserving our capability to adapt to changes in the marketplace.
