Careen Shannon (Executive Producer)

Introduction (2-3 lines)

Careen Shannon is an attorney, writer and former law professor whose career has focused on U.S. immigration law and policy for over 30 years.

This is her first film, thanks to the inspiring Film Director, Victoria Bruce.

Careen splits her time between the New York City area and San Miguel de Allende, in the state of Guanajuato in Mexico.

A long-time immigration attorney, Careen Shannon is also the co-author of several books, and the author of hundreds of articles, about U.S. immigration law and global migration.

She has made numerous trips to the U.S.-Mexico border to provide pro bono legal services to immigrant families held by the U.S. government in detention camps in New Mexico and Texas. She also provides support to a migrant shelter in Central Mexico.

Careen also sits on the boards of directors of several nonprofit organizations working in the areas of migration, education and human rights.
