Jennifer Redfearn

Jennifer Redfearn is an Academy Award® nominated filmmaker, multimedia producer, and educator.

She produced and directed the Oscar® nominated film Sun Come Up, a documentary following the relocation of some of the world’s first environmental refugees. Prior to this, for six years she worked on programming for media outlets, including PBS, the Discovery Channel, TLC, and for educational distribution. She has field-produced stories from across the states, Central America, the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Papua New Guinea.

In addition to being an independent filmmaker, Jennifer is a multimedia producer and educator at MediaStorm where she has produced and edited multimedia stories about everything from climate change conflicts in Africa to reformed prisoners in New York. Her work at MediaStorm has been nominated for a Webby and the World Press photo award for multimedia.

Jennifer teaches storytelling and media skills at NBC, DCTV, and she is a frequent guest speaker at universities, colleges, and organizations, including Columbia University, Villanova University, The Museum of Natural History, and the National Resources Defense Council, among others.

She was the recipient of a Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting Fellowship, and the Jerome Foundation, Chicken and Egg Pictures, and the NYSCA individual artist grants. She holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from Wellesley College and a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University.
