Elizabeth is thrilled to make her film producing debut with this engaging documentary. With decades of experience writing, directing, producing and acting in TV and radio ads, she was no stranger to the film making process. As a Professional Speaker at universities, high schools and trade shows, she’s influenced people on the importance of creating and marketing successful ethical businesses. For years she’s consulted college students and businesses, but she’s best known as the 4th generation President and VP of Marketing at Russell’s Garden Center.

Managing a single location “brick and mortar” store with 50 year-round employees that generates more than $10 million in yearly sales is a challenge that Elizabeth embraces. Together with her husband and children she uses new strategies, plus experience from 3 generations before her to continue the legacy of this 149-year-old family business. She loves to share the successes, challenges and mistakes made to help others find happiness by starting or supporting community businesses.

In March of 2020, Elizabeth was seriously concerned they would have to close their family business forever. She called her filmmaker daughter, Genevieve Skehan, and asked her to come out to document the possible end of an era. As the pandemic raged on, the story unfolded, and they adapted their business to fit the times. She never expected the outpouring of love from employees and customers telling them how much happiness and healing they provide.

When producing the documentary, Elizabeth ensured that there was footage of beautiful plants and wildlife throughout the film. She wanted nature to be an integral character in the story. Aided by the visions of an incredibly talented film crew, Growing Through COVID-19 has gone on to win awards internationally.

Living in a Natural Wetlands area, Elizabeth enjoys gardening, birdwatching, paddleboarding, biking and sharing the benefits of nature with others.
