Shirley Thompson is an Emmy award-winning editor, producer and story consultant based in Honolulu, HI. A seasoned PBS documentary producer, writer and editor, she is best known for the social issue documentaries she has edited and/or produced, including Breadfruit and Open Spaces (2012), Eating Alaska (2009), Pidgin: the Voice of Hawai‘i (2008), Special Circumstances (2006), Surfing for Life (2000), & It's Elementary (1996). These films have aired nationally on PBS, won Emmys and Best of Festival Awards, and have screened at film festivals worldwide.
A native of New Orleans, she lived and worked in San Francisco, CA and Dallas, TX before moving to Honolulu, HI in 2010.
