Jacky Comforty has been a filmmaker in the United States, Germany, and Israel for 20 years. Educated in film and television and classical history at Tel Aviv and Ben Gurion Universities, he is fluent in Bulgarian, Hebrew and German, as well as English. He and his partner, Lisa Vogel Comforty, make documentaries about social and historical issues. Their Chicago-area firm, Comforty Media Concepts, specializes in video and multimedia programs for museum exhibitions and other educational formats. They are known in particular for programs about multiculturalism, for their seven-title Inclusion series about people with disabilities, and recently for multimedia website development.
In addition to In the Shadow of Memory and Through a Glass, Lightly, Jacky Comforty's most recent producer/director credits include The Optimists, an independent documentary work-in-progress on the rescue of Bulgarian Jewry from the Holocaust; Step by Step: Heather's Story, a two-year longitudinal study of the inclusion of a little girl with Down's Syndrome into regular school; and the five video and eight audio programs of The St. Louis Holocaust Museum and Learning Center.
